Time files and not only has 2015 arrived, Lunar New Year is also fast approaching.
During the recent Jurong Central CCC-MOE Edusave awards ceremonies at the Science Centre in January, I have updated more than 1,500 parents and students present about recent infrastructure developments, celebration events and social programs to help the less unfortunate in Jurong Central. The most recent social program is Project Big Heart in which Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) or Pioneer Generation (PG) card holders are given a chance to receive free treatment and medications for their chronic diseases at our free clinic. Project Big Heart was launched on 4 January 2015 at the Loving Heart Multi-Service Centre, Blk 316 Jurong East and the next free clinic session is scheduled for 5 April 2015, 8.30am at the same venue.
The Jurong Central has just kicked off our very own SG50 celebrations with “Walking Down the Memory Lane in Jurong”, launched by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, DPM and Minister for Finance. Our next SG50 event will be Project Love where we will distribute up to 1,000 food hampers to needy families in Jurong Central. Thereafter, we will have one SG50 celebration every month until the finale on 8 August 2015. On that day, we will be closing the road (Jurong West Avenue 1) in front of Jurong Green CC for a street party!
The main purpose of the SG50 celebrations is to involve as many residents as possible to celebrate Singapore’s Jubilee. If you would like to help make this a reality, please register your interest at our website, www.OurJurongCentral.sg or drop us a message on Facebook (www.facebook.com/OurJurongCentral).
